A native of Northeastern Wisconsin, Benjamin Krogh composes stories within songs that allow listeners to place themselves within the narratives he constructs. Currently based in Portland, Oregon, he has spent the last decade focused on translating life experiences into his songwriting, resulting in a span of work that is both accessible and mysterious; simple yet layered with complexities.
We find these same themes and details woven into to his latest album, Good Medicine. Recorded and mixed in isolation over the course of 2020, the album channels a hushed sense of reflection and vulnerability. As a whole, these 9 songs represent that transparent place: a year of pain and sorrow juxtaposed with new growth and healing. Gone are the large arrangements of 2018's Beck & Call: a full band is exchanged for drum machines and acoustic guitars. Good Medicine features additional instrumentation from Evan Way, Alex Chapman, and Charlie Morris.
